Stroudsburg, PA – One of three class projects of The Leadership Pocono Class of 2013 is its partnership with Monroe County Meals on Wheels. As a volunteer-driven organization, Meals on Wheels delivers nutritious meals to many homebound individuals throughout Monroe County who are unable to prepare meals for themselves. A team of six participants from Leadership Pocono are working with the organization to develop a marketing plan to recruit additional volunteers to assist in making meal deliveries throughout Monroe County.
Leadership Pocono seeks to enhance Meals on Wheels volunteer partnerships with area employers, broaden its messaging to the greater Pocono community, and communicate the value of its services in ensuring that “no senior goes hungry.” With a growing homebound population in the Poconos, Meals on Wheels requires additional volunteers who desire to serve their community. Whether an individual is available every day of the week or once a month, Meals on Wheels has a place for anyone to volunteer. Leadership Pocono is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce. The program was established in 1997. Leadership Pocono provides the identification, development and empowerment of excellence in business, personal and community leadership.
