HARRISBURG – Rep. Rosemary M. Brown (R-Pike/Monroe) announced that she is hosting free veterans assistance and federal assistance hours throughout the month of August at her East Stroudsburg district office, 696 Seven Bridge Road, Suite 101, to assist area residents with related needs.

“I host both veterans assistance, and federal assistance hours every month in the district office to provide residents of the 189th District with a direct link between their needs and available resources,” said Brown.

Kerry Schimelfenig, department service officer with the American Legion, will visit Brown’s office on Thursday, Aug. 8, and on the second Thursday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling Brown’s office at (570) 420-8301. Some of the services he can provide to veterans and their dependents include assistance with compensation, pension, death benefits, education and health care, as well as any issues pertaining to veterans benefits. Veterans do not need to be a member of the American Legion to receive these services.

Additionally, a staff member from Congressman Tom Marino’s office will hold a federal casework day at Brown’s district office on Tuesday, Aug. 20, and on the third Tuesday of each month, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is to allow residents who are having issues with federal agencies to meet one on one with a member of the congressman’s staff.

“I encourage those who have questions or concerns relating to the federal government, such as, Medicare/Medicaid, to come and meet with the congressman’s staff,” said Brown.
