HARRISBURG – Fire and emergency response organizations in the 139th Legislative District have been awarded more than $285,000 in state grants, Rep. Mike Peifer (R-Pike/Wayne) announced today.
“I am pleased to see these much-needed funds return to Wayne and Pike counties,” said Peifer. “Our local fire and emergency service companies provide a great service to the community and this money will ensure they can continue to do so for years to come.”
The grant program was initiated in 2000 and is funded by gaming revenue. The program is open to all fire companies, volunteer ambulance services and volunteer rescue squads in Pennsylvania. Grant awards can be used for construction or repair of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, debt reduction and training.

Pike County

- Central Volunteer Fire Department: $13,654.28.
- Dingman Township Volunteer Fire Department – Fire Company: $12,905.
