Monroe County Celebrates Its 175th Anniversary

0

Stroudsburg, PA – 2011 is the 175th Anniversary of Monroe County and plans are underway for a variety of celebrations.  The theme of the event is “Explore the Past, Embrace the Future.” One of the first things needed is a logo and a competition has begun with the following criteria:

• The logo should be a two-color design

• It must incorporate the outline of the county – this is available by contacting Laura at the Pocono Arts Council – laura@poconoarts.org

• It should include the words Monroe County and 175th Anniversary

• All other design elements are at the discretion of the artist.

Logo designs are due in the PoconoArts office, 18 N. Seventh St., Stroudsburg 18360, by December 15.  Judges from the anniversary committee and PoconoArts Council will select the winning design by the first week in January.   There is a $100 cash prize for the winning design. The selected logo design will become the property of the 175th Anniversary Committee and will be used in all promotional materials for the event.  Anyone with questions about the logo should contact Laura at PoconoArts, 570-476-4460 or laura@poconoarts.org.

In addition to the logo, the anniversary cultural committee, chaired by Phil Chan of the Buck Hill-Skytop Music Festival, is looking to publish a listing of art and cultural events during the year long celebration.  Please forward the following information to info@poconoarts.org: Event Title; Date and Time; Location; Price; a one sentence description; and “For more information or to purchase tickets, please…”  (a phone and website or email contact is appreciated).  Please put “2011 Event” in the subject line.

If you have any questions regarding either the logo competition or calendar listing, please contact Phil Chan at buckhillskytop@gmail.com or Laura Goss at laura@poconoarts.org.
