Milford, PA – State Representative Rosemary Brown made a visit to the Center of Developmental Disabilities of Pike County in late August.  Brown toured the facility which provides early intervention, early educational and therapeutic services for children with developmental disabilities and delays ages 0 to 5.

While on her stop, Representative Brown took some time to visit with the children and read the children’s story book “Henny Penny” with them.  Brown commented, “My tour at CDD of Pike County was truly rewarding.  It is obvious that CDD offers quality service to our children with special needs. It is crucial that we continue to have centers such as CDD that help our children as early as possible receive individual, quality education so they can optimize their potential.”

Executive Director Ann Gillerlane stated, “It was a pleasure to have State Representative Brown visit with us, the children were happy to join her for story time and we look forward to inviting her back for the opening of our new clinic scheduled to begin providing services the spring of 2012.”  It is the goal of CDD to maximize each child’s potential while giving them the opportunity for growth and development in a setting that meets their individual needs and concerns.  CDD is committed to educating the community regarding the special needs of children living in Pike County and advocating on behalf of all children and their families.

The Center for Developmental Disabilities will begin providing outpatient based services for those in need of physical, occupational and speech therapy in the Tri-State area in the early spring of 2012.  Plans for renovations are underway for the second level of their building located at 101 Pocono Drive, Milford PA.  These services are essential to the community in which CDD serves and will provide a location that closer to home whereas currently, the closest clinic to provide these services is a minimum of a 45 minute commute for most residents from the Pike County vicinity.
