East Stroudsburg, PA – Pocono Medical Center is celebrating Home Safety Month by launching Weekend Warrior Wisdom, a national initiative that amplifies the importance of safety in and around the home. “We are committed to educating the community that whether it is a small or large project, safety must always be a priority” says Jonathan Goldner, DO, Chief Medical Executive, Medicine and Chronic Disease Service Line at Pocono Health System/Pocono Medical Center.

Weekend Warrior Wisdom provides tips and resources on playing it smart when it comes to home projects. Tips include how to prepare for outdoor tasks by stocking up on sunscreen to protect the sun’s harmful rays, as well as water to avoid dehydration. The program also discusses how best to dress for safety by leaving the flip-flops in the closet and opting for close-toed shoes instead. The Home Safety Council reports that an estimated 20,000 deaths occur each year as a result of home-related injuries.
