Pocono Mountains, PA – Recognizing creative excellence in advertising, public relations and digital marketing, The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI), the leading international organization of hospitality marketing professionals, has honored the Pocono Mountains with three Adrian Awards.
This year’s Adrian Awards were presented before an audience of hospitality and tourism industry leaders on January 28, 2013 in New York City. Spotlighting exceptional achievements from across the globe, the annual event is the world’s largest advertising, digital marketing and public relations competition in the travel industry. Thousands of entries from more than 35 countries were carefully evaluated and awarded by a panel of industry judges.
Under the existing partnership with Weather Metrics, the Pocono Mountains took the gold in the Digital Marketing, Multimedia Series category for its Live Camera Integration. David West, vice president of marketing of the PMVB has found the best way to share the weather, scenery and outdoor activities year-round is by integrating live cameras located throughout the Pocono Mountains into the regional news and weather of the target designated marketing areas allowing potential visitors to see beauty and activity shots of the Pocono Mountains on a daily basis. Camera streams were also posted online and cross promoted with a variety of vehicles.
Another silver award was won by the PMVB with the help of creative agency, Masterminds, and media buyer, MayoseitzMedia, in the category of ‘Digital Marketing, Game’ for the ‘Greater Maker’ Facebook campaign. Visitors to the region were given the opportunity to create their favorite Pocono Mountains experience by designing their own “Life’s Greater Than” icon using the Greater Maker Facebook application, with the possibility to “become famous” for their art work.
The PMVB also received a silver award for its ‘Life’s Greater in the Pocono Mountains’ in the ‘Advertising, Signage-outdoor/transit’ category. Advertisements in the form of platform posters, ceiling and floor clings and on ticket consoles were part of the Pocono Mountains Station Dominations.
“Our organization continues to create innovative and savvy marketing programs and our Marketing Department has taken the lead building brand through live imagery and social media,” says Carl Wilgus, President/CEO of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB). “It is always an honor to be recognized by your peers for our efforts in showcasing the Pocono Mountains to the travel audience.”
HSMAI is an international organization of marketing professionals representing all segments of the hospitality industry. Founded in 1927, the organization has nearly 7,000 members from 35 countries and chapters worldwide.
