Summer is made for outdoor BBQs complete with music, great food and drinks, and good friends! You’ll find all of that at the weekly Blues, Brews & BBQ event on the deck at Glass—wine. bar. kitchen. at Ledges Hotel, which makes its seasonal debut Memorial Day weekend. On Sunday, May 24, from 6-9 pm, Norman Taylor and Blue Soul will entertain guests with their unique blend of blues, folk and roots music.
Blues, Brews & BBQ hosts a rotating line-up of live blues music every Sunday through Labor Day on the hotel’s Serenity Deck, overlooking the scenic Wallenpaupack Gorge. It’s a BBQ-style outdoor dining event with samples of local craft brews from a featured local brewery.
Cost for the event is $32.50, which includes delicious selections from the grill and sides of summer picnic fare. Reservations are recommended. A contemporary outdoor heating system at Glass accommodates comfortable seasonal dining. Or, for no cover fee, guests can enjoy music and cocktails on the hotel’s lawn or Stargazer Deck.
“The scenic gorge and native bluestone surroundings provide excellent acoustics, and the view of the waterfalls is spectacular,” says Ledges Hotel Proprietor Justin Genzlinger.
Ledges is an historic, National Register-listed boutique Pocono Mountains hotel combining modern style, adaptive design and historical preservation of the O’Connor Glass Factory, which operated at the hotel site during the 1890s. The original building was constructed of hand-cut Pennsylvania bluestone and sits on the edge of a stunning gorge and seasonal waterfall, offering spectacular views from most windows as well as from the hotel’s multi-tier decks.
Glass—wine. bar. kitchen. incorporates original architectural elements from the glass factory and nearby Hawley Silk Mill. A signature feature of Glass is its live-edge wooden bar, benches and tabletops made by Wayne County artist David Boyce from a century-old copper beech tree that came down on Ledges’ sister property, The Sayre Mansion, in Bethlehem, PA.
