Stroudsburg, PA— With the start of school less than a month away, it’s time to “Stuff the
Bus” with needed supplies for Monroe County Head Start children.
On Saturday, August 17, 93.5 SBG and Pocono Services for Families and Children
will once again partner on this school supply drive to help kids in the local Head
Start program. Donations can be brought to the Staples parking lot on Route 611 in
Stroudsburg from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day. The station will be broadcasting live, with
radio personalities on hand.
Items needed to fill the bus include: glue, chalk, big crayons, pens/pencils, manila
folders, construction paper, watercolor paint, washable and dry erase markers, poster
board, staples, scissors, stickers, tape, and finger paint paper. Other requested materials
are: tempera paint, colored pencils, model magic, post-it notes, pencil boxes, writing
pads, pocket folders and soft, plastic 3-ring binders/folders.
“The Pocono community has always been very generous in contributing to our Stuff the
Bus drive,” said Kyleen Waters, promotions director for 93.5 SBG. “We hope to collect
at least 935 items this year.”
PSFC Executive Director Tim Lee said the supply drive helps ensure that children start
the school year prepared and ready for success. He encouraged parents to stop by the bus
that day with their own children. “This is a great way for youngsters to get involved in
giving back to their community and helping fellow students,” Lee said.
Anyone who can’t get to Staples on August 17, can bring their donations to the
radio station at 22 South Sixth Street in Stroudsburg. For more information, visit

The mission of Pocono Services for Families and Children is to provide resources for
the evolving needs of community children and families, in support of efforts to achieve
their goals. The nonprofit agency’s programs include Head Start, Keystones to Learning,
parenting education, emergency assistance and youth mentoring. PSFC has centers in
East Stroudsburg, Coolbaugh Township and Brodheadsville, as well as classrooms at JM
Hill, Resica Elementary and Middle Smithfield Elementary. The agency is accredited by
the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs (NAEYC).
