Hamlin, PA – Presenting Sponsors of the Art Extravaganza, Connections Magazine, and Bold Gold Media, presented a check to the Lake and Salem Community Library in Hamlin in the amount of $9,400, on Thursday, September 23rd. Over forty-two pieces of art auctioned and nearly two hundred people were in attendance, including the mayor of Honesdale, Jonathan Fritz.  This generous donation will ensure that area children and adults will continue to enjoy the literacy and educational programs run by the library.

“The success of AE was just incredible,” states AE Committee member, Deborah Bailey, owner and publisher of Connections Magazine and owner of Bailey Design and Advertising.  “The support from the AE artists, galleries, sponsors, media, and friends was just terrific. They cannot be thanked enough. As a publisher, I know the importance of literacy for both children and adults, and it is an absolute necessity in our world to support and maintain these programs. Literacy, reading, and education are everything.”

Highlights of the auction included impressive bids for some of AE’s featured pieces, such as: ‘The Inn at Maple Lawn’ by Diane Lesser; winning bid –five hundred dollars; ‘Celebration’, the crystal sculpture by Christopher Ries; winning bid-seven hundred, seventy-five dollars; and ‘Papillon’, the bronze sculpture of a child imitating a butterfly; winning bid-eleven hundred dollars.

“The Art Extravaganza and Auction was a fantastic idea and an amazing event,” said Mayor Jonathan Fritz.

“It highlighted the many gifted artists and photographers who live amongst us. I am proud to support a great cause such as children’s literacy.”

The Mayor purchased a photograph by photographer and AE Committee member, Jacquelyn Dienst, titled ‘Freedom and Liberty Back to Back,” depicting our Nations Flag and the Statue of Liberty. The Art Extravaganza was her debut as an artist in the Pocono area.

“It was very thrilling to have your debut and have the Mayor purchase your artwork,” says Dienst.  “As a newcomer to this area, to be a part of something this grand is just exhilarating.  I had the pleasure of working with a terrific group of professionals on this project, and I look forward to the planning of next year’s event.”

Many thanks go to the event’s auctioneer, Vice-President of HNB, Mark Graziadio, and also to Bold Gold Media’s General and Marketing Manager, Michael G. Stanton, who was MC for the day.
