– The Clash For Cash: Round II Set For October 2nd in Stroudsburg –

Stroudsburg, PA – Who doesn’t like a little healthy competition? That’s the mindset the Sherman Theater had in place when their recent battle of the bands series, The Clash For Cash, was developed back in March. And after a wildly successful first event, the Sherman has recently announced The Clash For Cash: Round II, taking place on Saturday, October 2nd.

In this ultimate battle of the bands, thirteen bands will compete for $2500 in prize money, headlining slots at Sherman Independent Rock Series shows, and more. Various genres of music will be represented at this showcase where the bands will be judged on musical talent, on-stage performance, and audience response. Judges for this event include Mike Lello, editor of NEPA music and arts weekly magazine The Weekender and John Moser, Senior Music Reporter from The Morning Call newspaper in Allentown, who returns for his second stint as a judge of the Clash. The Sherman Theater has been urging fans of local music to come out and support their favorite performers and cheer them on as they strive to win cold, hard, cash!

Winners of the first Clash For Cash event, ska outfit Survay Says!, have used both the prize money as well as the notoriety from winning the event to help push their musical careers forward. “The first Clash For Cash was an amazing experience to be a part of and winning it was basically a springboard for our career,” explained Survay Says! vocalist/keyboardist Charlie Yankowski. “It made it possible for us to open for national acts like Reel Big Fish, Big D (and the Kids Table), Streetlight Manifesto, and Less Than Jake over the following months.”

The Clash For Cash: Round II grand prize includes $1000 cash, a slot as a headliner on a future Sherman Independent Rock Series show, and future considerations to open for a national performing artist at the Sherman Theater.

Bands that are interested in participating should contact Josh Rittenhouse at the Sherman Theater via email at josh@shermantheater.com. Space and time are limited so interested bands should hurry and sign up soon. Tickets for the Clash For Cash: Round II are $10 in advance and can be purchased from the participating bands, online at www.ShermanTheater.com, by calling the Sherman box office at (570)420-2808, or at the Sherman box office during normal business hours (Thurs-Sat 12-6pm).
