July 28, 2010 – In today’s economic climate, many business owners are having a hard time surviving, let alone thriving.  To help area businesses obtain a better understanding of how to run their businesses and gain a competitive advantage for long term success, MetroAction has partnered with Community Bank and Trust Co. to present its Small Business Institute.  The two-day program will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., August 5 and August 6 at the bank’s Tannersville branch, Route 611.

The program is ideal for both start-up and existing businesses that want to grow their businesses.  Participants incorporate their own business experiences while learning what makes a business successful, understanding cash flow and financial statements, developing a marketing strategy and tapping into business resources and build their business networks.

“In today’s tumultuous economy, small changes to a business’ operations can have a big impact on their bottom line.  The Small Business Institute is an excellent way for entrepreneurs to gain valuable information and training in areas that will give their businesses better chances to not only survive, but thrive,” says Christina S. Hitchcock, business development administrator, MetroAction.

More than 130 entrepreneurs have already experienced and found success with the Small Business Institute. “The Small Business Institute was very interactive.  We shared and learned a lot of creative ideas to help in our businesses.  I would definitely recommend this program to other entrepreneurs.  I now have a better sense of my business and feel more confident.” says Mike Straub, owner of Michael Straub Photography in Mount Pocono.  Adds Hitchcock, “Small business owners, both potential and existing, should have as many tools for success as possible, particularly in this difficult economic time.  Business owners who make careful, strategic decisions will have a distinct advantage over their competition.”

The Small Business Institute will be held on August 5 and 6, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Community Bank and Trust Co, Tannersville.  Cost is $149 per person and includes all course materials.  Seats fill quickly!  Pre-registration is required by calling (570) 341-0270 or visiting www.
