Chamber Announces Healthy Workplace Award Recipients

Honesdale, PA – The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce announces that Apple Day Spa & Hair Restoration Salon and The Honesdale National Bank will receive Healthy Workplace Awards during their annual awards dinner.

The Healthy Workplace Awards Program launched in 2006. The purpose of the program is to extend appreciation and recognize companies throughout Northeast Pennsylvania that are adopting wellness practices at work. This is a regional collaboration between Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania, ChamberChoice and nine Chambers of Commerce in Northeast PA (Wayne County , Pocono Lake Region, Pike County, Southern Wayne Regional, Greater Pittston, Greater Hazleton, Pocono Mountains, and the Greater Scranton). Nominations are solicited from all Chamber businesses; applications are sent to a Blue Cross and ChamberChoice committee for review and award selection. To date, 37 winners have been chosen in two categories: 1) companies with one to 49 employees and 2) companies with 50 or more employees.

We all know that becoming healthy requires a lot of effort, but numerous studies show that the benefits are worth it. Employees are more productive, there is less absenteeism and overall healthcare costs are lowered. In addition, the overall demeanor and self-esteem of employees improves. It is important to recognize businesses who are committed to improving employee health and well-being. This award acknowledges forward-thinking companies that actively support healthy lifestyles for their employees, and will be presented at the Wayne County Chamber’s Community Awards Banquet on October 6 at Lukan’s Farm Resort in Hawley.  For more information or to reserve tickets for this event, please call (570) 253-1960.
