Honesdale, PA – When Dr. Susan Kay Granquist joined Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers’ Together for Health Dental practice, it was like returning home. “I always knew I wanted to work in health care and I started volunteering at Wayne Memorial when I was 13 years old.” said Dr. Granquist. “I worked in lots of departments trying to figure out which health care career I was interested in.” Granquist stated. In college, she chose dentistry. “In fact, I did my observation work for dental school here at Together for Health Dental Center, observing Dr. Jones and others.” Dr. Granquist said.
Dr. Granquist was born and raised in Honesdale. Her roots in the community run deep. She is the daughter of Wayne County Commissioner Wendell Kay and Karen Kay, a pharmacist at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She completed all of her education in Pennsylvania. After graduating from Honesdale High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Psychology degree from Penn State, then a dental degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. Dr. Granquist married Tim Granquist, a math teacher at Wallenpaupack Area High School, in July 2010. The couple resides in Honesdale.
“I love dentistry because it’s a great mix of biology, diagnosing and also working with your hands” said Dr. Granquist. Since joining Together For Health, Dr. Granquist has seen patients of all ages. “We try to take good care of all of our patients and we understand that some people may be nervous, so we always do our best to make everyone feel comfortable.” Granquist stated.
The Together For Health Dental Center is part of Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (CHC), which also offers primary care in Honesdale, Waymart, Lakewood and Lords Valley as well as behavioral health, women’s health and surgery services. All CHC sites are subsidized by federal monies and accept both private insurance and public assistance.
