East Stroudsburg, PA – The Eastburg Community Alliance invites everyone to celebrate the season with the Tree Lighting Ceremony and first-ever Santa Train! Held on December 9th and 10th, respectfully, the events will kick off the holiday season in East Stroudsburg.

The annual ECA Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on Friday, December 9th at 5:00 p.m. in Miller Park on Crystal Street in East Stroudsburg. Young and old will find a variety of activities to celebrate this special season. The evening will be filled with singing with the New Approach singers, refreshments, and craft activities before the main event of lighting the Unity Tree and the special appearance of Santa Claus.

The ECA has also organized a food drive in conjunction with the Tree Lighting Ceremony to benefit the Salvation Army, which serves needy families in our community. We ask that those in attendance bring a canned good or non-perishable item with them that evening.

On December 10th, the Santa Train will roll into Miller Park for five scheduled runs to Delaware Water Gap and back, starting at 9:30 am. Hot cocoa, crafts, and pictures with Santa will be available at the Depot. Tickets are on sale at East Stroudsburg Hardware, Pocono Community Theater, and Pocono Bagels and Deli. The tickets cost $7 for children under 10 and $13 for adults. Each ticket includes the trip and a special gift from Santa Claus!

These events, sponsored by the Eastburg Community Alliance, are able to be successful because of the generosity of the ECA media partners, Pocono Record and Naussau Broadcasting, as well as the Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society and the East Stroudsburg Rail Tower Society.
