3/15/17 – Land Use Decision-making webinar: Pipelines & People: How Communities Can Better Understand & Manage Pipelines, 12:00 – 1:15 PM (EDT/EST). Municipalities can address pipeline safety at the local level through best planning practices and ordinance regulations. This webinar session will address specific tools for pipeline planning and discuss pipeline safety, legal issues, MPC obligations, comprehensive planning concepts, and local standards to assess impact and regulate pipeline-related activities. The presenters are John Gaadt, Principal Gaadt Perspectives and Dave Messersmith, Extension Educator, Penn State Extension.

Friends, family members, neighbors and community members provide emotional support, help solve problems, offer parenting advice and give concrete assistance to parents. No one can eliminate stress from parenting, but a parent’s capacity for resilience can affect how a parent deals with stress. Resilience is the ability to manage and bounce back from all types of challenges that emerge in every family’s life. It means finding ways to solve problems, building and sustaining trusting relationships including relationships with your own child, and knowing how to seek help when necessary. Networks of support are essential to parents and also offer opportunities for people to “give back”, an important part of self-esteem as well as a benefit for the community. 3/28/17 – Cooking for Crowds: A Volunteer’s Guide to Safe Food Handling, 6:00 – 9:00 PM, Pike County Training Center, 135 Pike County Blvd., Lords Valley, PA 18428. Preparing food in large quantities is different than food preparation in the home. This program helps non-profit organizations and their volunteers understand the risks involved with preparing large volumes of food and the important food safety practices that need to be implemented to ensure a safe event. The program is geared to volunteers preparing food for events such as church fund raisers, fire department barbecues, booster club food sales and the many other types of events were food is served to the public.
