Pocono Medical Center Hosts the County’s First-Ever Mammogram Marathon

“We are excited to offer this premier opportunity for the women of Monroe County to receive free mammograms at our Bartonsville Healthcare Center,” said Barbarann Carroll, RT (R) (M), Radiology Facility Coordinator of the Bartonsville Healthcare Center. According to the National Breast cancer Foundation, in 2010, there were more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. “This Mammothon will provide multiple opportunities throughout the month of October as a means to encourage women to take preventative measures toward their health,” said Carroll.

Pocono Medical Center’s Bartonsville Healthcare Center located at 600 Commerce Boulevard in Bartonsville will be hosting three Mammothon events beginning today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; October 12 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and October 20 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Every woman will have the opportunity to receive their mammogram via the Bartonsville Healthcare Center’s Selenia® Dimensions® system’s Genius™ 3D MAMMOGRAPHY™ technology to provide the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art results possible in preventative screening. “As the only comprehensive healthcare center in the region with advanced 3D mammography technology, our staff is continually prepared to serve the women of our community and all of their healthcare needs with utmost comfort and quality,” said Carroll.

There will be no appointment and no prescription needed to participate in any of the free mammogram screening dates. For women without insurance, funds are provided by Susan G. Komen Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Linda Creed Foundation. For more questions, please call (570) 420-4999.
