Honesdale, PA – For Wayne Memorial Community Health Centers (WMCHC), a network of physician offices offering primary care and specialty services throughout Wayne, Pike and Lackawanna Counties, the week of October 14th – 20th marks its first official celebration of National Healthcare Quality Week.
According to Patricia Bohs, RN, BSN, quality improvement manager, WMCHC has always made quality patient care its primary concern since opening its initial primary care facility in 2008. However, the federally qualified health center clinically affiliated with Wayne Memorial Health System, has furthered its commitment to establishing a culture of quality across all its satellite offices.
“We now have a defined quality program with specific objectives. At the forefront is the project of becoming recognized as a Patient Centered Medical Home or PCMH,” stated Bohs. She further explained that physician practices following the PCMH care model offer increased access to efficient, coordinated and responsive care by strengthening the relationship between patients and their primary care physician.
WMCHC will be commemorating Healthcare Quality Week with special events involving staff and community leaders to include: County-wide proclamations in both Wayne and Pike Counties; educational presentations to staff accompanied by gifts and prizes as well as the introduction of the newly formed Quality Team Champion group committed to continuous quality improvement and efficiency of patient care.
National Healthcare Quality Week is sponsored by the National Association for Healthcare Quality with the goal of increasing the awareness of quality healthcare programs and to strengthen staff, community and patient relations.
