Honesdale, PA – Wayne Memorial Hospital and ER-One jointly announce the appointment of Robert Fine, MD, FACEP, as the new Medical Director of the hospital’s Emergency Department. ER-One is a staffing organization that works closely with Wayne Memorial to provide skilled Emergency Department medical providers.

Dr. Fine, a board-certified emergency medicine physician, has more than 30 years of both clinical and administrative experience in his field.

“As Director, I am looking forward to working closely with the hospital administration and medical staff to focus on improving patient satisfaction and bringing consistent, high quality care to the Honesdale community,” said Dr. Fine.

“The Emergency Department (ED) is the front door to our hospital,” said James Pettinato, director of Patient Care Services, “and we are pleased to have Dr. Fine at the helm. We are always looking at ways to enhance services, and he will join several other new providers who will help us provide the best, most efficient and compassionate care.”

The new medical director expects the community will see changes fairly soon. “With the other new physicians and mid-level providers, such as nurses and physician assistants, hired in addition to myself, I anticipate rapidly increasing the level of expertise in the Emergency Department,” explained Dr. Fine, “and bringing new technical innovations to the hospital which will help bring the most up-to-date care to the region.”

Dr. Fine, who worked most recently at Wilkes Barre General Hospital as the Chairman and Medical Director of the Emergency Department, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and began his medical education at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. From there, he went on to earn his medical degree at the Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.  Dr. Fine completed his internal medicine residency at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania and five years of post-residency training and experience in the Emergency Department.

During his career, Dr. Fine has served as Chief or Medical Director of Emergency Departments at Capital Health System in Trenton, New Jersey and the former Northwest Hospital Center in Randallstown, Maryland, in addition to his stint at Wilkes Barre General.

“Wayne Memorial Hospital welcomes Dr. Robert Fine as Medical Director,” said Chief Executive Officer David Hoff, “He brings a wealth of leadership experience and medical capability to our team. We anticipate a very positive working relationship for the good of our patients and our community.”
