Stroudsburg, PA – The Leadership Pocono Class of 2013 along with Leadership Programs from Hazleton, Lackawanna, Wayne, and Wilkes-Barre had a joint Regional Leadership Day held at the Scranton Hilton & Conference Center. The purpose of the Programs getting together was to learn about issues that pertain to all of Northeastern PA. The Keynote speaker was Teri Ooms, The Institute for Public Policy and Economic Development who started the day of learning. Remarks were also given by State Senator John Blake to kick off the afternoon session.
The day consisted of 5 Panel Discussions beginning in the morning with Economic Development in NEPA. The afternoon sessions were; Education and Schools/Job Presentation, Marcellus Shale, a discussion on Arts, Culture, Recreation and Tourism, and the day finished with a discussion on Environmental Concerns in Economic Development.
All discussions were moderated with experts in each of the fields represented presenting and answering questions. All topics were well received as each discussed issues that are pertinent to the growth of the NEPA Region. It also gave the participants to network with other colleagues in other Leadership Programs to learn more about our expanded region and what we need for a successful future in Northeast Pennsylvania.
