Stroudsburg, PA – Let Leadership Pocono awaken the leader in you! Leadership Pocono is currentlyrecruiting for the Class of 2014. Applications are currently being accepted. Scholarship applications aredue by May 30th.
Sessions are monthly from August through June. There are typically 20-25 program participants ofdiverse backgrounds – diverse in age, experience, skills and industry. For example, this year’s classincludes a Branch Manager from Wells Fargo, Human Resources Director from East StroudsburgUniversity, Director of Nursing from Pocono Medical Center, a banker, a Government Affairs person,Security Officer, entrepreneurs, business owners and key non-profit personnel. Some attendees are firsttime leaders, some are working towards higher leadership positions, some are business owners and othershave held key leadership positions in their organizations and are looking to extend their leadership in thecommunity.
In addition to the monthly sessions, there is a community project. Each project has different objectivesand the teams designed how they work the project. Some teams meet weekly for an hour, and others meetmonthly for a couple of hours. This year’s projects include:
• Crossing Abilities All-inclusive Playground-Marketing, Fundraising, Community Awareness
• Meals on Wheels-Volunteer Recruitment Program
• Catholic Social Services Anger Management-Marketing and Community Awareness
Leadership Pocono, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Greater Pocono Chamber of Commerce takesdeveloping leaders, provides them with a rich network of colleagues, a deep understanding of the region’schallenges and the opportunity to achieve value for their organizations and communities. Over 200individuals have successfully completed this intensive program and are contributing to the communitiesin which they live and work.
