Milford, PA – Alpak Station, the retail shipping center in Milford, PA, is now an Approved Shipper with the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Under a Licensed Agreement with the USPS, Alpak Station is approved to accept and offer postal products and services along with other shipping services. “This new designation allows us to offer our customers over thirty new ways to send a package, including Priority Mail and Express Mail Flat-Rate services,” says Roland Edwards, Jr., the “packing captain” (manager) at Alpak Station. “Last Christmas season we sent several customers to the Post Office for smaller packages that weren’t cost-effective to send through FedEx (Federal Express) or UPS (United Parcel Service). Now, they’ll have a few more shipping choices.”
The shipping center, located at 115 Mill Street in the Upper Mill Shops, applied for the USPS Approved Shipper designation in spring 2010 only to find the program had been temporarily suspended. With assistance from the Regional Customer Service representative and with the full support of the Milford Post Office, Alpak Station re-applied and received final approval of its new designation from the District Manager this spring.
The postal services offered at Alpak Station are processed through the store’s point-of sale software and Stamps.com and carry a 10-15% surcharge over regular Post Office prices. Commemorative stamps, sold in books of 20, are also available. Mr. Edwards notes, “We don’t have Registered Mail, money orders, passport applications or USPS branded gifts but pretty much everything else is available.” Return packages with pre-paid USPS Parcel shipping labels can also be dropped off at Alpak Station, where they will be safely stored pending the local mail carrier’s afternoon pick-up. Visit or call Alpak Station (570-409-8762) for more details on its full line of products and services.
