New RESNET Energy Index Helps Liberty Homes’ Home Owners Track Efficiency, Energy Savings

Pocono Lake, PA – Liberty Homes Custom Builder, a leader in  constructing energy efficient homes for 34 years,  is the first home builder in Northeast Pennsylvania to earn certification as an Energy Smart Builder.

Liberty Homes has teamed with Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) to offer new home owners an energy savings index rating for their home.   “Raising consumers’ knowledge of new home energy performance is a key measure to ensure home buyers of the savings their new home provides,” said Szabo Fekete, a certified energy analyst and thermographer with Fekte Thermal Inspections.

“The Home Energy Rating System (HERS) from RESNET is analogous to MPG (miles per gallon) for cars,” explains John Holahan, president of Liberty Homes Custom Builders.

“Today’s new homes are much more efficient in comparison to homes built just a decade ago,” says Steve Baden, executive director of RESNET.  A HERS rating is a nationally recognized system for inspecting and calculating a home’s energy performance.  Certified RESNET Home Energy Raters conduct inspections to verify a home’s energy performance. These homes are more affordable to maintain, comfortable and have a higher value, says Fekete.

“When builders increase the energy performance of the homes they build, it is good for consumers, the environment, and the local economy,” adds Fekete.

Since 1978, thousands of homeowners have built with Liberty Homes. The company has been designing and building award-winning, year-round and vacation homes for first-time buyers, families that require more space, and those in search of a second home or vacation getaway.
