Canvas the Town – Walk for the Arts

Stroudsburg, PA – On Saturday, September 25, the Pocono Arts Council will sponsor Canvas the Town – Walk for the Arts.  This first time event is an opportunity to demonstrate support of the arts in the Pocono region by asking neighbors, friends, and family for their financial support as you walk around beautiful downtown Stroudsburg.  Individuals and teams, students to seniors, and even pets of all sizes are welcome to participate.  The course is about one mile, with easy walking through the historic hill district of Stroudsburg, and should take about twenty to forty minutes.  There will be a water stop halfway through the walk and refreshments at the end.  A T-shirt specially created for the event and listing the event sponsors will be available to the first 80 people to register.  Sponsors include Miller’s Fine Arts Gallery, Green Leaf Productions Inc., Keegan Tees, MudWorks Pottery, Mary Louise Parker, Esq. & Assoc LLC, Pocono Women and Andrea Robbins-Rimberg.

Those interested in walking can pick up a form at the PoconoArts Cultural Center, or download one from If you would like to sponsor a walker, or just donate to the event, call PoconoArts at 570-476-4460 or visit  Since everyone walks the same distance, sponsors contribute a flat amount prior to the walk.

Walkers should bring their collected funds and completed sponsor sheets to the PoconoArts Cultural Center, 18 N. Seventh St., Stroudsburg at 9 AM on Saturday, September 25.  The walk begins at 10 AM.  Special prizes will be awarded to those individual walkers, families, students and teams of walkers that succeed in raising the most money for PoconoArts.  Only donations brought on the day of the walk, or pledged online prior to the walk, will count toward determining the winners.

All proceeds from the walk benefit the Pocono Arts Council, the oldest and most established local arts service organization in the Pocono region.  PoconoArts serves as a “Chamber of Commerce” or umbrella organization for artists and arts organizations in all disciplines, as well as the resident and tourist populations of the area.  The professional staff, as well as volunteer board and committee members, work diligently to promote the Council as the region’s leading art service, education and advocacy organization.
