Organizes human pink ribbon to raise awareness – Proceeds from sale of human ribbon pictures benefit American Cancer Society

Dallas, PA — Students active in Colleges Against Cancer at Misericordia University organized and, with help from the campus community, formed a human pink ribbon during Pink Week to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society.

“We care about helping to find a cure for cancer,’’ said Misericordia University student Amanda Peslak, a doctor of physical therapy major from Highland Lakes, N.J. “We also want to help raise awareness and do our part to support the search for a cure. Helping to find a cure would be nice.’’

“This is such a good event,’’ added College Against Cancer at Misericordia University President Cassie Graeff, a biology and pre-med major from Pottsville, Pa., “because everyone is touched by cancer in some way.’’

Members of the campus community were encouraged to wear pink on Pink Day on Wednesday, Oct. 27. The campus community formed a pink human ribbon on the lawn of McHale Hall. Pictures of the formation were then available for purchase from Colleges Against Cancer student members for $1. All proceeds from the sale of T-shirts and pictures benefited the American Cancer Society.
