Pike County, PA – Safe Haven of Pike County is proud to announce that advocate Cindy Stine is the 2011 Recipient of the Vision of Hope Award presented by the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape and the National Sexual Violence Resource Center. The Vision of Hope is committed to preventing child sexual abuse and helping victims heal. The award, first given in 2005, is presented to one who helps to transform our communities into safe, supportive environments for our children.
Cindy Stine joined the staff of Safe Haven of Pike County in 2002 after volunteering for several years. She has served as the agency’s Educational Outreach Coordinator, Child/Teen Advocate, Legal and Medical Advocate and trainer of Safe Haven’s 60-hour crisis intervention class.
In 2003, Cindy began Rallying Youth Organizers Together (RYOT) which is a youth leadership program that engages teens in the movement to end sexual and other forms of interpersonal violence. Cindy serves on the advisory board for the Monroe/Pike Chapter of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, is an advisor for the Rainbow Youth and a board member of the Upper Delaware GLBT Center.
