Pike County, PA – This is the ninth year that the United Way has teamed with the American Red Cross and the Pike County Chamber of Commerce for the 9-11 Memorial Blood Drive. The Blood Drive hours will be 8:45 am to 3:00 pm at the Delaware Valley School District Middle School gymnasium. The only requirements are you must be 17 years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health, and have identification with you. Walk-Ins are welcome.
“The American Red Cross is the single largest supplier of blood products to hospitals throughout the United States. Needless to say, it is a challenge to have the supply to meet the demand. The goal for this Blood Drive is 95 units. We know that the residents of Pike County can achieve this goal!” Said Pike County Commissioner Richard Caridi.
“Every day, more than 40,000 pints of blood are needed for patients in the United States. Blood is used for the treatment of cancer patients, people with blood disorders, premature babies, transplant recipients, trauma victims and more. Each whole blood donation can help save up to three lives. I am proud to be part of an organization that supports this critically necessary cause.” stated John Gilpin United Way Vice President and Pike County Treasurer.

Organizers made us aware that all donors would be treated to an ice cream cone, compliments of Pike County Commissioner Richard Caridi, Pike County Commissioner, Karl Wagner and Matt Osterberg, Pike County Commissioner hopeful. Now that’s a sweet deal!
