Tannersville, PA – Get ready to play ball, wiffle ball that is, for a great cause on Saturday, July 21.

Barley Creek Brewing Company in Tannersville is hosting the second annual United Way of Monroe County Wiffle Ball Tournament, with proceeds benefiting the 2012 campaign. The family-friendly event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is being held rain or shine.

As many as 16 teams will be competing for the honor of United Way Wiffle Ball Champion and teams are encouraged to register in advance. The tournament will be single elimination, with each game lasting three innings and each team comprising four players.

Cost is $125 per team and includes lunch. Besides fun competition, there will be music and refreshments, including hot dogs with lots of toppings. A home run derby will also take place during the afternoon.

“We expect a great turnout again and hope to raise a lot of funds for the United Way,” said Campaign Chair Trip Ruvane, president of Barley Creek Brewing Company. “Last year everyone had a great time.”

Barley Creek Brewing Company’s Pint Size Park features an official-size wiffle ball field. Tournament play will follow traditional wiffle ball rules, with a pitcher and three fielders and three outs per inning. Players must be age 16 and up.
