Peifer_Portrait_November2010HARRISBURG – Rep. Mike Peifer (R-Pike/Wayne) today encouraged local governments, businesses and municipal authorities to review the state grant programs now available through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for a variety of environmental initiatives, as well as transportation and alternative energy programs.

“Many grant opportunities are now available to assist area businesses and local governments achieve their environmental improvement and economic development goals,” Peifer said. “I strongly encourage all eligible organizations to take advantage of these opportunities for the benefit of our communities.”

The following programs are funded by Act 13 of 2012, the Marcellus Shale impact fee legislation. Applications will be accepted from March 1 through June 30, with expected CFA board action in September.

In addition, grants and loans also are available through the following alternative energy programs. Applications for these programs are accepted on an ongoing basis for CFA consideration upon completion of a minimum 60-day application review by the Department of Community and Economic Development and the Department of Environmental Protection.

Finally, the CFA Multimodal Transportation Fund program, funded through Act 89 of 2013, encourages economic development and aims to ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation in the Commonwealth. Applications for this program will be accepted from March 1 through July 31 for anticipated CFA board action in November. Updated guidelines for the program will be posted to the CFA website in early February.
