Poconos, PA – When considering Northeastern Pennsylvania for new business locations, corporate decision makers not only look at things like available real estate, work ethic and educational attainment, they also need to know the area has the recreational amenities that their relocating executives demand. In an effort to show these decision makers that northeastn Pennsylvania abounds with amazing places to recreate, Penn’s Northeast hosted its eighth annual Fall Festival. This year’s event was held on Tuesday, October 12th, at Skytop Lodge in Monroe County.
The event also provides the opportunity for representatives from the region to meet with prospects and form better working relationships with them. Real estate brokers, developers, site selection consultants and members of the Governor’s Action Team were invited to spend the day either golfing, clay shooting or fishing. The day was topped off by a reception, dinner and awards. More than 50 people attended, many of them real estate brokers and developers from New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia.
According to Chuck Leonard, chairman of Penn’s Northeast, “It is events like these that keep our region and our partners in the minds of the people that deal with prospects daily. Great networking occurs among real estate and economic development professionals reinforcing long standing relationships and initiating new ones. Potential opportunities are also often identified or discussed at these events. This event attests to our level of regional collaboration and camaraderie. Everyone is working together to bring jobs to the region and help to make it a better place to live, work and play.”
PPL Electric Utilities was a corporate sponsor of this year’s event. Each year the event is hosted at a Pocono region resort. This is the fifth time Skytop Lodge was chosen as the venue for the event. Previous locations include Paupack Hills in Wayne Couny and Great Bear Resort and the Pocono Raceway, both in Monroe County. In the winter, Penn’s Northeast co-sponsors Winterfest, a day of skiing at Sno Mountain in Lackawanna County, followed by a hockey game at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Luzerne County.
Penn’s Northeast is a regional economic development marketing organization that serves Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe and Wayne counties. Penn’s Northeast’s mission is to facilitate investment of capital and the creation and retention of quality jobs in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
