Pocono Medical Center (PMC) will officially recognize its more than 400 nurses by kicking off Nurses Week (May 6 through 12) with a Cinco De Mayo Fiesta this Wednesday, May 5. This event will be sponsored by Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society XI Beta Chapter at East Stroudsburg University and the PMC Nursing Department. On May 6, PMC will hold an RN Professional Development Graduation, the first in its Professional Development Program, which provides an opportunity for professional development and recognition for registered nurses. Many of the nurses enrolled in the program this year dedicated their time to providing H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccine to hundreds of school children and members of the community. On May 7, Paulette Nish, vice president of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, will announce the nominees and winners of the PMC Nursing Excellence Awards. A debate about the nursing profession, education, and technology will follow.
