Facebook Contest Embraces Regional Offerings

Pocono Mountains, PA – The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB) is proud to announce the official launch of their new Facebook contest, The Greater Outdoors Giveaway, as part of their 2011 summer marketing campaign, Life’s Greater in the Pocono Mountains.

Primarily promoted in the metropolitan markets of Philadelphia and New York City, the contest encourages participants to submit a photo of themselves, demonstrating why they are in dire need of an outdoor getaway, or as referred to in the campaign, suffering from indoor-dom. The program will run for 14 weeks and on Thursday, August 18 at 12:30 p.m., the entry with the most votes will win the grand prize of the Ultimate Outdoor Adventure Package, including a kayak, mountain bike, tent and camping gear, fishing rod, backpack and getaway to the Pocono Mountains. Weekly prizes of assorted outdoor gear, valued at $50-$150, will also be given away by random selection.

We are excited to feature our social media efforts in the new campaign, stated PMVB Vice President of Marketing and Sales, David West. By embracing our region’s outdoor offerings, we are hoping the contest keeps the Pocono Mountains as a top-of-mind destination, as well as increases our online presence and reach.

The majority of the Bureau’s advertising, outside of their co-operative advertising with their members, will promote this contest including a media mix of billboards, train wraps, train cards, online and Facebook advertisements, in the hopes to grow the PoconoTourism fan base. To support these efforts, the application was designed with user-friendly capabilities and content which is easily shared, such as a participant’s immediate access to their friend list in order to notify them of their submission. Eligible participants can submit multiple entries and eligible emails are allowed to vote once per day.
