Visitors Bureau Combines Efforts to Promote in Major Metropolitan Areas

Pocono Mountains, PA –  The Pocono Mountains proudly launches its newest marketing campaign just in time to welcome summer. Underwritten and supported solely by the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB) and its partners, the summer campaign continues under the slogan launched this past winter, “Life’s Greater in the Pocono Mountains.”

As in past efforts, the new summer campaign, valued at more than $1.3 million, will focus its greatest emphasis on feeder cities, the markets from which the Pocono Mountains get most of its visitors, the metropolitan areas of New York City and Philadelphia. The campaign encourages nearby metropolitan residents to take advantage of the outdoors, recreational activities and family hot spots close-to-home, while featuring display ads from 11 leading regional partners, including Mount Airy Casino Resort, Camelbeach Waterpark and Bushkill Falls. The efforts will provide even more momentum to a tourism industry that employs more than 22,000 and generates over 22 million visitors annually.

“The new campaign highlights the passion, pride and creativity of visitors and the original ways to create fun summers in the Pocono Mountains compared to day-to-day experiences using iconography,” said David West, PMVB vice president of marketing and sales.

A variety of advertising and promotional efforts — outdoor, transit and digital — are running in several high trafficked areas, including Commuter Rail Interior Cards, Platform Posters, Double-Decker Ceiling Wrap and Rail Michelangelo Display on the New Jersey Transit; Northern New Jersey Digital Billboard Network; NYpost.com; 6abc.com; Facebook.com; Billboards along Pennsylvania’s I-76, I-95 and Routes 22 and I-78; New Jersey I-95; NBC10; NBC.com; and Live Web Cam Feeds (800poconos.com/livecameras) on NBC4 and NBC10.

The campaign is expected to reach and increase visitation to the four-county destination by also utilizing social media to convey the message that life really is greater in the Pocono Mountains. The online strategy includes using social media sites Facebook (facebook.com/poconotourism), Twitter (@PoconoTourism) and YouTube (youtube.com/user/PoconoTourism) to reach prospective visitors inexpensively.

Fans of the Pocono Mountains can participate in our social media engagement by sending and posting photographs of our campaign to our online social channels. To stay and receive specials and discounts, text “Poconos” to 77950 and be part of our mobile community. For more information on the Pocono Mountains, visit800poconos.com.
