Visitors Bureau Combines Efforts to Promote in Major Metropolitan Areas

Pocono Mountains, PA – Cold temperatures and snow showers have arrived just in time as the Pocono Mountains (800poconos.com) has unveiled its new winter marketing campaign, the latest manifestation of its unified competitive slogan called “Life’s Greater in the Pocono Mountains.”

“The new campaign highlights the passion, pride and creativity of people and the original ways to create fun winters in the Pocono Mountains compared to day-to-day experiences through the use of iconography,” said David West, Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau vice president of sales and marketing.

The new campaign, valued at over $750,000, began running in early December and is visible within the metropolitan areas of New York City and Philadelphia, as well as along their major arteries, featuring display ads from nine leading regional partners, including Shawnee Mountain, Camelback Mountain Resort and Fernwood Hotel & Resort.

A variety of advertising and promotional efforts — outdoor, transit and digital — are running in several high trafficked areas, including Commuter Rail Interior Cards and Platform Posters on the Long Island Rail Road, New Jersey Transit and Metro North; skicentral.com; nj.com; yahoo.com; comcast.net; Billboards along Pennsylvania’s I-76 and New Jersey’s I-78 and I-95; King of Prussia Mall; WNBC; WCAU; nbcphiladelphia.com; and Live Web Cam Feeds on WNBC and WCAU.

In 2009-10, the winter season — typically viewed as December, January, February and March — accounted for almost 1.5 million skier visits to the Pocono Mountains. The efforts are expected to provide even more momentum to the Pocono Mountains tourism industry that all together employs more than 22,000 and generates over 24 million visitors annually.

The campaign is expected to reach and increase visitation to the four-county destination by capturing the energy and natural elements of the destination. Participate in our social media engagement with Twitter (@PoconoTourism) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/poconotourism) by sending and posting photographs of the campaign. To stay up-to-date and receive specials and discounts, text POCONOSKI to 77950 and be part of our mobile community. For more information on the Pocono Mountains, visit 800poconos.com.
