PPL: Pre-Noon Update On Hurricane Irene Recovery

0

PPL Electric Utilities continues to restore power to customers throughout its service area and repair damage caused by Hurricane Irene.

As of 11:15 a.m., PPL Electric Utilities had about 114,500 customers without service throughout its 29-county service area. More than 165,000 customers have been restored.

More than 443 jobs are presently dispatched that will return about 40,000 customers to service, so we expect to make substantial progress today. Additional jobs will be dispatched as those are completed.

The company continues to forecast an estimated restoration time of 3 to 5 days for its entire system. As we proceed, the numbers of customers associated with each trouble case gets smaller.  Most cases today involves 100 to 200 customers affected by each.

Areas with the largest numbers of remaining outages include the Allentown area (about 21,000); Honesdale (about 20,000); and the Poconos (about 14,000.)

PPL Electric Utilities encourages customers who have not yet reported an outage to call 1-800-DIAL-PPL (342-5775) or report online at www.pplelectric.com/outage. If you have already reported an outage, please do not call in so that others may get through.

A list of ice and water distributors for customers without power is available at www.pplelectric.com/outage. Some storm photos also are available at the site.
