Safety conscious organizations earn annual awards

TOBYHANNA ARMY DEPOT, Pa. — Lake Ariel resident Nicole Stevens, a purchasing agent here in the Army Contracting Command – Tobyhanna Division, uses a checklist to ensure contractors meet safety requirements. The organization earned the fiscal year 2014 Safety Area of the Year, Tenant Activity category. Organization personnel earned the award for outstanding contributions to the safety management system overall and for activities during the past fiscal year. Three other organizations here earned the award: Heavy Industrial AreaMobile Electric Power and Environmental Control Unit Branch Systems, Integration and Support Directorate; Medium/Light Industrial AreaQuality Control Division, Continuous Process Improvement Directorate; Administrative AreaProcess Improvement Division, Continuous Process Improvement Directorate. Depot commander Col. Gerhard P.R. Schröter noted that proactive contributions to safety activities, including hazard recognition, self-safety inspections and team communication, assisted in the achievement of zero recordable incidents for the organizations during fiscal year 2014. “Through their efforts, Tobyhanna Army Depot continues to meet and exceed safety standards established for all world class organizations,” he said.
