HARRISBURG – Rep. Mario Scavello (R-Monroe) has announced grant funding for the Monroe Career and Technical Institute. As part of the grant awards by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Monroe Career and Technical Institute will receive $17,602. The school is one of 42 across the state to receive funding, totaling $1.7 million. According to the Department of Education, the funding will allow the schools to acquire state-of-the-art equipment and develop new education programs.
“This is a great school geared toward giving students the skills they need to succeed in their future careers,” Scavello said. “I’m sure this funding will be put to good use, improving the school’s resources.”
The Monroe Career and Technical Institute is an extension of the county’s four school districts. It provides tuition-free career and technical education for high school students, who split their school day between it and their high schools.
“There are a growing number of fields with a high demand for students educated in the trades and technical skills,” Scavello added. “It is important that these skills stay up to date with the latest technology available to them.”
