Siptroth resolution recognizes October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Harrisburg, PA – The House of Representatives today approved state Rep. John Siptroth’s resolution (H.R. 940) that recognizes October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“I introduce this resolution every year to bring attention to this serious issue and help that is available to victims,” said Siptroth, D-Monroe/Pike. “A family home should not be a place filled with fear and desperation.”

Siptroth thanked the many groups across the state working to end domestic violence and helping victims of abuse, including Women’s Resources of Monroe County.

“Their work is critical,” Siptroth said. “In just one day last September, Pennsylvania’s domestic violence programs provided assistance to nearly 2,600 people.”
