A ribbon was cut on July 24, 2012, officially opening The Wayne/Pike Technology Training Lab.  “With over 70 community attendees, including many elected officials, the support of our community and local officials was very evident.  Everyone’s attendance helped to make the event a complete success”, said Lyndsay Birmelin, Director of Workforce Initiatives.  She added, “We are working towards an effective workforce delivery system by developing career opportunities; strengthening skills in the workforce; and supporting lifelong learning.  The Wayne/Pike Technology Training Lab will help Workforce Wayne achieve its mission.”

Located on the second floor of the Hawley Silk Mill, the Technology Training Lab utilizes 600 square feet of space providing 16 moveable computer stations, laptops, wireless mice, wireless printer, and a wireless LCD projector, as well as high speed fiber internet connectivity.  The space is available for rental use by training providers, individual businesses or educational institutions seeking to provide consortium training.  The Wayne/Pike Technology Training Lab will: enable existing businesses in the two-county region to achieve competiveness through increased productivity and technological advances, attract new businesses to the area, and promote lifelong learning.

Workforce Wayne is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of business, education, government, employment services, economic development, and community entities in Pennsylvania’s Wayne and Pike counties.
