Great Bear Golf Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Guarino (Warren) Cortese as the new Executive Chef.
Born in Torino, Italy, into four generations of Northern Italian winemakers and culinary masters, Chef “G” joins the Great Bear team with over 25 years of fine dining experience in lead positions, much of it abroad. Recently, Chef “G” was part of the culinary leadership team that opened and ran the premiere Legends Lounge in the new Yankee Stadium, Bronx, NY. Under his leadership, Legends Lounge received a Four Diamond Award for Food and Hospitality.
Here in the Poconos, Chef “G” is best known as the exclusive caterer to a number of local music and art venues and the proprietor of his own personal chef business, catering in-home events for prominent families both here and in New York. He has taught in one of the country’s top culinary schools, has presented at numerous culinary boards, and is a three-time Medal winner in national food competitions.
“Chef Guarino has an impressive resume, but more importantly, he possesses a knowledge and appreciation of excellent food, utilizing the freshest ingredients. He will greatly enhance all that we offer at Great Bear – from special events, to the Pub, to Pasta Night. Having experience in all facets of the industry, Chef Guarino in a great asset and will take Great Bear’s food and beverage operation to the next level,” expressed, Robert Sabola, Food and Beverage Director.
