(Honesdale, December 16, 2016)… Matthew Meagher, an attorney in Honesdale who shares a long history with Wayne Memorial Hospital, joined the board of the Hospital & Health System in December.

Meagher is leaving his post on the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Board, where he served for 12 years, and following a family tradition. His father, Paul Meagher, is a past chairman of the hospital board and the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Board, and his mother, Sandy, is a member and past president of the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Matt, the proprietor of Meagher Law, Inc., and his wife Carrie, a local elementary school teacher, have two children Tess, 12, and John, 9. Matt has deep roots in Wayne County—and in Wayne Memorial Health System.

“After serving on the Wayne Memorial Health Foundation Board for so many years, I am very excited to continue the Hospital’s mission with service on the Wayne Memorial Health System and Hospital Boards,” said Matt. “Wayne Memorial has been a large part of my life since I was a young child.  I was born at Wayne Memorial and both of my children were born at Wayne Memorial.  I consider the Hospital a tremendous asset to our regional community and look forward to serving on the Board.”

Matt has more than 15 years of experience as a licensed attorney. He earned a BS in Criminal Justice, Political Science, and History from the University of Scranton in 1996. He then went on to obtain his JD from California Western School of Law in 2001. In addition to Wayne Memorial, Matt serves on the Texas Township Planning Commission and the board of The Cooperage Project. He is a past board member of both the Wayne County Historical Society and the Wayne Economic Development Corporation, as well as a past vice president of the Wayne County Bar Association.

“We are pleased to have Matt on our hospital board,” said Dirk Mumford, chairman of the Wayne Memorial Hospital & Health System Board. “The Meagher family has a special relationship with Wayne Memorial that goes back many years, and we look forward to Matt’s contributions to forming our vision for the future of healthcare in our community.”

On the board, Matt joins Chairman Mumford, 1st Vice Chair Hugh Rechner, 2nd Vice Chair Joann Hudak, Secretary Susan Mancuso, Treasurer Frank Borelli, Joseph Harcum, Wendell Hunt and Julie Seiler.
