East Stroudsburg, PA – In a world where 30 is the new 20, 40 is the new 30 and so on, Pocono Medical Center (PMC) knows that reaching the century mark is still a great accomplishment. In honor of National Aging Month, PMC has launched Five Secrets of Centenarians, a nationwide educational initiative that provides know-how for living long, healthy lives.

According to the CDC’s State of Aging and Health in American 2007, “the current growth in the number and proportion of older adults living in the United States is unprecedented in our nation’s history. Two factors – long lives and aging baby boomers – will double the population of Americans aged 65 or older during the next 25 years.”

Five Secrets of Centenarians provides insider tips of how to make the most of the many years ahead by making healthier decisions early on,” says Paulette Nish, Vice President of Patient Care/CNO at Pocono Health System/Pocono Medical Center. These tips can include eating a balanced diet, practicing home safety, maintaining a relationship with your physician, and more.

Five Secrets of Centenarians is nationally supported by Spirit of Women and locally promoted by Pocono Medical Center. Spirit of Women is a national network of leading hospitals dedicated to improving women’s lives with innovative health and community programs.
