ESU Announces Plans For Academic Convocation

East Stroudsburg, PA – East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania will hold its Fall 2010 Academic Convocation for freshmen, transfer, and readmitted students on Sunday, August 29 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Koehler Fieldhouse.

Fall Convocation signals the beginning of the academic year for new students and the entire campus community is invited to attend.

Welcoming the campus community to the new academic year will be: University President, Dr. Robert J. Dillman, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Van Reidhead, and, Student Senate President, Emily Ward.  Also welcoming the new students will be upper class students Eric Goodwine, ’10 and Barbara Haug ’10.

After the convocation, a barbeque will be held on the Quad where new students can meet and interact with returning students, faculty, staff and administrators, beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Fall semester classes begin on Monday, August 30.  Total fall enrollment will exceed last year’s fall enrollment of 7,576, with final numbers to be announced in mid-September.

Resident students at ESU will move back to campus on Saturday, August 28 and Sunday, August 29.  Over 150 volunteers will welcome and assist the students.  Volunteers will be stationed in all eight university residence halls to direct traffic areas, help carry belongings, answer questions and assist with check-in.  The offices of enrollment services, the university store and the campus card center will be open during check-in from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  ESU’s health center will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days.
