Wayne County Chamber, Annual Membership Meeting with Guest Speaker

Honesdale, PA – The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring their Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at The Settler’s Inn, located at 4 Main Avenue (Route 6) in Hawley.  The event starts promptly at Noon with lunch being served.

The guest speaker for the meeting is State Representative Michael Peifer of the 139th District.  Mike Peifer, a life-long Greentown resident, is now serving his second term.

During the 2009-10 legislative session, Peifer has been appointed to serve on the House Finance Committee, the House Game and Fisheries Committee and the House Gaming Oversight Committee.  He is also a member of the House Republican Policy Committee and serves on the Task Force on the Budget and Economic Development.

He is a 1986 graduate of Wallenpaupack Area High School, received a four-year baseball scholarship and graduated from Rider College in Lawrenceville, New Jersey in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Peifer pursued his accounting career with Price Waterhouse LLP, qualifying as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in 1991 and rising to the level of senior tax consultant.  In 1995 he returned to Greentown to open his own accounting and tax firm, Michael T. Peifer CPA, until being elected in 2006.

“The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to have Representative Peifer speak at our meeting”, states Donna LaBar, Executive Director of the Chamber.  “Representative Peifer will present a legislative update regarding the Commonwealth’s budget and the challenges faced in 2011.”
