Tannersville, PA – The Blue Ribbon Foundation of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania is committed to supporting nonprofit agencies that respond to the needs of its neighbors throughout the region. The Foundation’s Board of Directors recently authorized its 2010/2011 contribution of nearly $122,000 to be shared by 14 United Ways located throughout BCNEPA’s 13-county service area.

As part of that contribution, the United Way of Monroe County received $12,303 targeted specifically to support health-related programs for Monroe County residents. The presentation took place during the organization’s August campaign meeting at the Monroe campus of Northampton Community College.

“We are grateful to The Blue Ribbon Foundation for its continued generosity to our United Way,” said Pat Ross, 2010 campaign chair, United Way of Monroe County.  “This year’s contribution will significantly aid our campaign as we continue serving our community’s needs during these difficult times.”

“Many people across our service area are feeling the strain of the economy,” said Cynthia A. Yevich, executive director of The Blue Ribbon Foundation. “We are privileged to have the resources to help improve lives and change the community conditions that affect our region’s most vulnerable residents.

Ross thanked The Blue Ribbon Foundation and Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania for being a “pacesetter” company with its early donation to this year’s United Way campaign. Pacesetters will be recognized on Sept. 4 during Stroudfest, which is the official kickoff to the United Way’s campaign.
